“Ten years ago, a good friend introduced me to Irvington by inviting me to join her at a Halloween Festival event, and I got a wonderful taste of Irvington history and folklore. Later, I began dating an Irvingtonian and very quickly got involved in neighborhood volunteer efforts with his friends. It’s amazing how easy it was to “find my tribe” in Irvington, do meaningful and fun work, develop lasting friendships, and follow the footsteps of some amazing leaders. Over the past six years, I’ve led the Irvington re-Signed public art project, administered social media accounts that promote neighborhood interests, assisted IDO with producing a monthly e-newsletter, coordinated a community garden that shared produce and educational experiences with students and neighbors, and joined neighbors in numerous community efforts to beautify the neighborhood and prevent crime. I bought my first home here and can hardly imagine living elsewhere. I’m excited for the neighborhood’s future and honored to join the IDO board in working for the benefit of Irvington.”
