The American Independent Business Alliance (AMIBA), local Independence Business Alliances, national partners and business declare the week of July 1-7 Independents Week. “It’s a time to reflect on the importance of economic democracy and community self-determination by celebrating the nation’s locally owned independent businesses,” says AMIBA director Jennifer Rockne.

Independents Week is a time to recognize your community’s local independent businesses and the values they embody.  It’s a celebration of their spirit of entrepreneurism and individuality, and an occasion to recognize their local contributions of time, talent, goods and services.

It’s also an opportunity to recognize the independence of local residents; their ability to think and act for themselves while embracing their part in shaping your community’s future.
