In partnership with the Irvington Terrace Crime Watch, the Historic Irvington Community Council, and many other individuals and organization, IDO offered support as Re-Signed Irvington and graphic artist Eric Benge completed construction of a replacement sign at 6738 E Washington Street. The sign is a chestnut brown and reads, “Historic Irvington Welcomes You!” Community Volunteers planted trees and native perennials on site, and continue to maintain the site currently by laying down mulch yearly. Thank you to all the wonderful organizations that helped to make this sign happen, IDO is proud to lend support and assistance to community initiatives outside our organization such as this.
In an effort to provide wayfinding for businesses not located on the Washington Street commercial corridor, the IDO Public Spaces committee worked with local graphic design business Lodge Design to develop signage pointing the way to trails, shops, and other local landmarks.
The city of Indianapolis manufactured and printed the signs free of charge, and installed them at the intersections of Audubon & E Washington, and Ritter & E Washington. With Irvington becoming a destination in Indianapolis, it has become key to provide clear wayfinding to the exciting landmarks and opportunities for fun in our community. We thank DPW and Lodge Design for producing and installing the signs.
